‘Sharing the wonderful world of films with as many people as possible’: that’s how the four Pathé brothers described their ambition in 1896 when they started their joint company. In those early years of cinematography, the brothers pioneered both in producing films and in developing equipment for them. And with success: within a few years, Pathé had grown into the largest producer of film equipment and films in the world.

Proud Market Leader in the Netherlands

Our 30 theaters, with a total of 253 screens, are spread across the whole of the Netherlands; from Groningen to Maastricht and from Scheveningen to Arnhem, including the Royal Tuschinski Theatre. With 14.2 million visitors in 2023, we are the market leader. And that makes us incredibly proud.

Pathé Continues to Innovate
And still, entirely in the spirit of the brothers, our 1,900 employees work daily to improve every cinema experience together. Being at the forefront is in our DNA. Once, Pathé was at the cradle of sound films, and later color films; more recently, we have introduced innovations such as IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Cinema, ScreenX, Pathé Relax Seats, and we renovated the most iconic theater in the Netherlands: the Royal Tuschinski Theatre.
