Weekend Commissioner Interview

1. How would you describe your committee in three words and why?

Adventurous – With the activities of our committee, we set out to gain new experiences.

Sociable – We are a fun and diverse group, and luckily we get along really well, which makes every meeting something to look forward to.

Fresh – Apart from our Board Buddies, none of our committee members have been active members within Flow before. This gives us plenty of new insights into the activities we organize, but also makes us face some challenges as we are still learning how everything works within an association.

2. What are examples of activities the Weekend organizes?

With the Weekend Committee we organize two activities per year, which both last a whole weekend. The first activity is a City Trip abroad, where we enjoy the city’s culture and local nightlife. As such, we went to Lille last November and had an amazing weekend. From May 9th to 11th, we will have our Association Weekend, where we will be staying near Tilburg with a large group for a weekend filled with on-site activities such as partying and playing games. Don't forget to put this data in your agenda!

3. What is it like to be a commissioner of the Weekend?

Awesome! It is quite a large committee since there are seven of us, but the meetings and planning run very smoothly, which is great. Being a part of a committee is already new to me, but it is truly an amazing experience. I am learning so much about the role of a commissioner and about the association through things like the General Board Meetings and attending Flow’s many fun activities.

4. How is this Weekend different from last year's committee?

There was no Weekend Committee last year, as the Association Weekend was organized by the Activities Committee.

5. What is the best memory with your committee so far?

The City Trip to Lille was absolutely amazing, although we were, of course, quite busy organizing everything... It was also so much fun to bond with everyone. For instance, we went to the Halloween Party with everyone from the committee, had a nice dinner together, joined a pub quiz, and sang karaoke.

6. What are your goals for the committee this year?

Of course to organize two unforgettable weekends full of fun, to apply the qualities of the entire committee for this, and to ensure that everyone reaches their full potential. And to grow in my role as Commissioner, of course!

7. If time and money were not a concern, what would you want to organize?

Unfortunately, the weekends we organize are only three days long. My ideal weekend would be filled with crazy activities that you would not usually do, such as skydiving and bungee jumping. Also, a lot of active things like visiting an Indoor Trampoline Park, everyone staying at a nice resort-like place with cozy (preferably luxurious) cottages, and of course, throwing an amazing party with great artists would be awesome!
